Bikeability Level 2: Taking Your Cycling to the Road
Level 2 Bikeability is where cycling truly comes alive! This exciting progression takes riders onto quiet roads, experiencing "real" cycling under the guidance of our expert instructors. This important step builds the skills and confidence needed for everyday cycling journeys.
To join Level 2 training, participants must have successfully demonstrated all the Level 1 skills - ensuring they have the handling abilities needed before venturing into road environments.
What You'll Learn
During our Level 2 sessions, we'll help you develop:
Road Positioning - Maintaining suitable riding positions for different situations
Hazard Awareness - Identifying and responding confidently to potential dangers
Communication Skills - Sharing the road and communicating effectively with other road users
Junction Navigation - Handling side roads, T-junctions, crossroads and roundabouts
Road Rules - Understanding and complying with signals, signs and road markings
Advanced Manoeuvres - Starting, stopping and passing parked vehicles safely
Who Is It For?
Level 2 is typically enjoyed by children in Years 5 and 6 (ages 9-11), but we welcome any riders who have mastered Level 1 skills and are ready for this next adventure. We understand this can feel like a significant step for both children and parents - moving to cycling on actual roads! Rest assured, our experienced instructors create a safe, supportive environment where confidence grows with every pedal stroke.
This course prepares riders for Level 3 training, where they'll master the skills needed for more complex road situations and busier traffic conditions.
