Bikeability Level 1: The First Step in Your Cycling Journey

Level 1 Bikeability is where cycling confidence begins! Taking place in traffic-free environments like school playgrounds, this foundational course helps riders master essential bike handling skills before venturing onto roads.

To join Level 1 training, participants need basic cycling ability (able to pedal and glide), but don't worry if those skills aren't perfect yet - that's exactly what we're here to help with!

What You'll Learn

During our Level 1 sessions, we'll help you develop:

  • Bike Preparation Skills - Getting yourself and your bike ready for journeys

  • Basic Maintenance - Simple checks and fixes to keep your bike in top condition

  • Control Mastery - Setting off smoothly, controlled pedalling, and confident stopping

  • Advanced Handling - Looking behind while moving, cycling one-handed, navigating around obstacles

  • Speed Management - Maintaining appropriate pace and making controlled stops

Who Is It For?

Level 1 is typically enjoyed by children in Years 3 and 4 (ages 7-9), but we welcome riders of all ages who need to build these foundational skills. Every cyclist develops at their own pace - whether you're just saying goodbye to stabilisers or looking to refresh your basic skills, our friendly instructors create a supportive environment for everyone.

This course is the perfect preparation for Level 2 training, where riders take their first exciting trips onto quiet roads!
