Bikeability Balance: Early Cycling Skills for Young Riders
Bikeability Balance develops crucial early cycle handling and awareness skills in children aged 4-7 years through engaging games using balance bikes, trikes or adapted cycles. This foundational training builds confidence, inspires progression to pedal cycling, and prepares young riders for Bikeability Level 1.
At Pedal Power Training, we use Strider bikes for their superior reliability and durability, giving children the best possible introduction to cycling.
What Your Child Will Learn
Our Bikeability Balance programme is broken down into 9 essential modules:
Balance – Practised both on and off the bike
Bike Knowledge – Learning parts of a bike and essential clothing
Safe Mounting – Getting on and off the bike safely
Propulsion – Making the bike go
Controlled Stopping – Making the bike stop effectively
Gliding and Balancing – Building core stability skills
Control and Steering – Manoeuvring the bike confidently
Spatial Awareness – Being aware of surroundings
Social Skills – Sharing space with others
How Sessions Work
Our qualified instructors use a series of fun, interactive games to develop each rider's skills progressively. Each activity is linked to one of the modules above, building confidence through play.
By the end of the course, children will have developed sufficient bike handling skills to begin their progression to cycling with pedals—a significant milestone in their cycling journey!
